RADHIKA AGARWAL SUICIDE CASE - Ankit pleads transfer of case to CBI or CID

Ankit Agarwal, one of the six accused in the Radhika Agarwal dowry harassment case, has now written to the governor of Andhra Pradesh pleading that the case be transferred to the CBI or CID department for a fair investigation. Accusing the police of working only in collusion with complainants (Bansals), the letter dated May 10,2010, states that the police have failed to conduct a fair investigation in the case. This, despite several representations made to the commissioner of police, Hyderabad, requesting a fair enquiry. A similar letter has even been sent to the director general of police by Ankit Agarwal wherein Agarwal claims that he and his family have been falsely implicated in the Radhika Agarwal suicide case. Radhika, daughter of SP Bansal, attempted suicide on June 17,2009, by hanging herself from the railing of a roof garden in her parents house in Banjara Hills. After battling for survival for over 24 hours, she eventually passed away at a private hospital on June 18. The Bansals have since been claiming that Radhika resorted to suicide because of severe harassment by her inlaws but the Agarwals have denied this.
